Thing 9: Twitter

Okay, I've been putting this off and putting this off so I finally set up a Twitter account. I actually looked at Twitter at the beginning of this process and couldn't it as anything that appealed to me (or anyone). I don't know if I'm too old but I just don't get it.

Thing 10: image generators

I had lots of fun with this. I created a WIRED magazine cover, a couple of photo mosaics and a photo rubics cube. Check this out!

Thing 12: Rolly

I created a Rolly search tool for my jazz review sites. Now I'll be able to look for CD reviews with one search.

Thing 13 del.icio.us

Mmmm, I really like this. I think this and LibraryThing will become my new favorite things. I bookmarked my obligatory Web 2.0 sites. But before I did those, I bookmarked some of my favorite sites. Now whenever I find myself on the computer away from home or work I'll have my favorites within reach.

Thing 11: LibraryThing

I opened a LibraryThing account today and add some of my books. I haven't added any tags yet, just the titles. I'm trying to decide what tags to use so it was easier to simply start with the titles. It will be interesting to see how far I go with this. Whether I'll be brave and truthful or be chicken and vague.

Thing the First (1st)

I watched the archived webcast of "Web 2.0: What Library Managers Need to Know". (I actually watched it two weeks ago but am not reporting it until now.) Helen brought some interesting things to my attention. I've printed out her cited websites and will add some of them to my Web 2.0 learning.

Thing 6 Libraries and Web 2.0

I found a couple of thing I liked viewing Denver and Seattle Libraries' sites. As a children's librarian I was excited to see the podcast on the DPL site. We've talked about doing something like this where I work but have stumbled on getting permissions. Glad to know it can be done.

I've also thought the use of MySpace for our library would be great, especially in getting teens involved. Maybe after many of us see how it can work we will have the energy to do it here.

Things 7 & 8 Bloglines

I've had a Bloglines account for a couple of years now. It's good to know that I know something of these 23! I already keep tabs on The Shifted Librarian as well as TheLibrarianinBlack and Free Range Librarian. And I mustn't forget my women's basketball feeds,

Things 4 & 5: Flickr Account

I have set up a Flickr account -- no photos yet. I also joined the Alaska group. I just returned from an Alaskan vacation so I have some photos to upload.

I found the Flickr Mashups interesting. I don't understand the technology behing them but I definitely want to explore some of them further. I'd like to try Flickrball -- it sounds like a challenge but it didn't download properly on my PC. I'll try another time.

Things 2 & 3: of 23 Things

Today I begin my journey into learning 23 Things as an assignment for work. This is my new Blog and this is my 1st post. I've registered my Blog URL with Infopeople.Let's hope I keep it up.
